BHARATPUR AND KEOLADEO GHANA
This is a small city in Rajasthan on the route between Agra and Jaipur. It is only 12 miles from Fatehpur Sikri and is a good place to stop for lunch on the long journey or to stay overnight and enjoy a peaceful visit to Keoladeo National Park either at sunset or sunrise. You do not have to be a keen bird watcher to enjoy the view.

KEOLADEO GHANA NATIONAL PARK

bharatpur-Keoladeo-National-ParkA World Heritage Site, it is regarded as one of the world’s most important bird sanctuaries. It attracts a wide variety of migrant and water birds from as far away as Siberia. After a good monsoon, when water levels are good, boats can be hired to get closer to the birds. Only bicycles and cycle rickshaws are allowed inside the park making it a very peaceful way to spend a morning. Nilgai and other mammals graze on the vegetation. DEEG PALACE

20 miles outside Bharatpur is Deeg Palace built in the mid 1700s. The complex has nicely carved buildings and lovely gardens which are pleasant for an afternoon picnic. There are some fountains, but they only work during local festivals.
